Albuquerque, Las Cruces Among ‘most Sinful Cities In America,’

Please note that prescriptions for controlled substances will be filled at the discretion of your provider and are not provided by appointment. Why UNM: We’ve been hands-on in the OR since day one. We often clean like this in the first years, and if there are several residents in the room, the Senior leads the Junior or teaches them as they perform the complex steps during the work.

My colleagues are great. We support each other, create a positive work environment and are willing to help each other in anything, work related or not.

We only take calls at one location, so we don’t have to drive extensively between different hospitals in the middle of the night

I have a close working relationship with every plastic surgeon involved and participating in other plastic surgery related areas (eg Ortho Hand, ENT, OMFS, Oculoplastic).

Why UNM: This program offers a family environment with excellent relationships between faculty and residents. With a small program, we have the opportunity to build our experience and have a high transaction volume. Living in Albuquerque gives you a great opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.

Why UNM: This is a comprehensive program with a flexible focus that takes into account the individual resident’s interest. Operational experiences are early, frequent, and autonomous.

Why UNM: UNM has a great culture that makes it a great place to train. This program has a lot of support from residents, attendings, mid-levels, OR and clinic staff. It’s a very hands-on program that really gets you up and running in the OR from day one where everyone is invested in your learning. Our patient population is highly diverse, providing excellent clinical and operative experiences as the only Level I trauma center in the state. This program has a great balance of education, clinical training, and lifestyle, which owes much to the support we receive from our faculty and teamwork among residents.

Why UNM: There is an amazingly supportive group of residents and fellows who push you to be the best plastic surgeon you can be. This is a very practical program with a lot of early operational experience; A few hours after starting my first day, I was fixing facial fractures. This program has such a positive atmosphere and I laugh and have a great time with my residents on a daily basis. We have an excellent working relationship with all hospital staff and this creates a very pleasant working environment.

Why UNM: The welcoming environment at UNM makes it a great place to learn and ask questions. On day 1 of residency, I was wheeled into the operating room, which made the start of my training very exciting and informative. I love working with the residents and fellows and look forward to the next 6 years at UNM!
