The girl’s family identified her Thursday as Sidney Mae Olson, 5, and asked to be changed at the intersection where she was killed.

The child and a group of people were in the crosswalk near Elm Square at the intersection of Main and Elm Streets when the accident happened around 5:15 p.m.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. Several adults were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

“I just heard people yelling and screaming,” said Kyle Perry, who works at the Mobil gas station across the street.

Authorities have not said how the crash happened, but a red scooter was seen at the crash site.
