Painting cars seems to be much more of an art than a science to me, and the thought of painting my own car makes me very nervous, even though I can’t afford to pay someone else to do it. So when I see videos of someone else painting something, I’m always looking and wondering if I have the stones to make my own at some point. Maybe we’ll have the courage to trick a friend into helping us with something easy like the Peep. In this video the paint job is NOT simple as it is a sweet paint job on a Maverick. If you’re not familiar with candy paint jobs, they are a three-stage process that has a base color, usually silver, white, or gold, with a layer of semi-transparent color on top. The whole thing is then covered with a clear coat for an effect that makes the paint look a mile deep.

Most of California REQUIRES the use of LOW VOC automotive coatings. Maryland REQUIRES LOW VOC automotive coatings. True candy paints, like our EyeKandy candy paints, are made from tints that provide deeper, richer color than regular automotive paints, but generally fade faster than our traditional solid, metallic and pearlescent colors. Longevity depends on the amount of caramel applied, which and how much clear is used, and how much time the vehicle spends in the sun. Vehicles that spend all day, every day in the sun can fade substantially over a period of 2 to 3 years, while many show vehicles that are kept in garages and used for shows and cruises will last 5 to 10 years. years or more. We offer sweets in four forms; 2K Urethane Candy (EKU Series), Candy Basecoat (EKB Series), Candy Pearlescent Basecoat (KGC Series) and Candy Dye Concentrates (EKK Series). In general, the EKU series has the deepest, wettest look, but is the most difficult to spray and repair. The KGC Series is the easiest to apply and repair, but looks slightly different than the EKU Series. The EKB series is very similar to the EKU series and is a better choice for recording and graphics than the EKU series. EKK series is best used for dyeing colors.

The amount of paint you will need depends on many factors, including the size of the vehicle you are painting, the amount of vehicle you are painting, the color you use, your spray equipment, and the technique and skill of your painter. The activator and reducer to select depends on the size of the vehicle or parts you are painting, temperature and air movement. Generally speaking, when painting more than 30% of a car’s surface at a time, you’ll want a medium or “standard” reducer and activator, as it’s called for vehicle surface temperatures up to 85°F. For temperatures above that speed, the best option is the slow one. Rapid is generally only recommended for smaller areas in colder temperatures.
