Jeep Wrangler Sahara With 33 Inch Tires – Has anyone put bigger tires on a stock 4xe? I’m thinking of buying 33 inch tires with 20 inch stock. Post your photos and specs and let them know it’s friction-free.

Click to expand… A guy on the JL forums did a 275/60-20 on this 4xe Sahara in stock. Wheels (hmm, I think they’re 33 inches, I’m familiar with the metric specs). They said the width would be the same but the 60 vs 55 profile would be fine (apparently the 4xe has ~1 inch higher OOTB).
It looks great. It was Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. It was a bit more aggressive for off-road use (still supposedly street-friendly).
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Gladiator Rubicon Wheels. 33″ I think the 20 looks better and you’d be better off choosing the Nitto all-terrain. The 20″ is lighter.

I mean, I’m familiar with high-performance auto parts. Like my GT setup is 285/35 at 20×10 inches (front). , and I have a 305/35 at 20×11″ (rear), but I know there’s a fair amount of sidewall overhang that’s “acceptable” for a truck/SUV rig (and I’m not running a Sebring in a Jeep…)
Does anyone own the black one in the picture above… can you post additional pictures with tire details…?
Rubicon Rims On Sahara
I found a lot of people running different setups on their JL High elevations that had the same rims as us. Friction ranged from 275 to 285 to 305 with no reports. I’ll post some specs here soon. I’m thinking about 285 because I want wider tires.
I would like to use the 285/70R17 but would like to hold off on lifting for now. I’m sure it will be fine in terms of in-well cleaning, but I’m still curious about suspension cleaning. If anyone here has any wisdom to share on this, I’d be happy to do so. I’m wondering if it’s possible to do a Rubi takeoff, which is a much more economical option, and require less offset/backspace to make sure there’s no friction when bent. Has anyone sized up to 33s? Has it negatively affected battery range? If so how much? Also, what are the corresponding metric sizes? Thank you in advance.
Are you okay. Many of our members have done it. Still waiting for the 4xe, but the 33″ Rubicon has already taken off. Since the tires are heavier and the tread is more aggressive than the LT, there seems to be very little impact on mileage. That’s about 5-10% of what I’ve read. YMMV, P-rated 32.6″ tires like some 285/70R17’s will be less affected than 33.0″ heavy LT tires like 275/60R20 E-load tires!
Anything that affects fuel economy will affect electric range. So lift kits, bigger tires, rougher tread, extra weight, etc. all have an impact.

I haven’t seen any noticeable effects – Rubicon takeoff runs – I’m sure in theory there would be a difference in increased rolling resistance, but there’s nothing I can measure at this point. (1,000 miles when using stock tires, 2.3,000 miles when using current tires)
No more road trips to measure the difference. I took it on a small road trip this weekend and it seemed to have a small effect on my MPG, but it’s hard to tell on a limited drive.

For mine, put 33 along with 17. From all I have seen, there have been only positive changes. I think the battery is the same. The drive was much smoother and the Jeep felt much more trimmed down.

The Sahara comes standard with the classic 18×7.5-inch five-spoke wheel design with machined and charcoal finish. Standard tires are 255/70R18 (32 x 10 inches), but tire brands will vary if you order Cold Weather Group or not. Mine came with Cold Weather Group and Bridgestone Dueler All-Terrains. It’s a boring looking tire, but it performs very well and is very comfortable. I believe the standard tires are GoodYear Wrangler All-Season.

I replaced the 32-inch dueler with a set of 275/70R18 (33 x 11 inches) BFGoodrich KO2s. As long as you don’t plant it for lifting, this is the perfect setup for the Sahara IMO.
