Jeep Wrangler Off Road Tires – Jeep has partnered with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to produce three new 2024 Wrangler models, the most extreme of which will offer 37 tires.

The three packages, in the Insanity Climbing category, are named: Upcountry, Upcountry+, and Level II. All kits will replace the 33-inch rubber on the stock Wrangler Rubicon with 35- or 37-inch tires. The first two kits are also available on the Wrangler Willys for the first time, replacing that 33-inch rubber trim with 35-inch tires.

The top-of-the-line model, the Upcountry, will bring AEV’s 2-inch suspension as well as new wheels, 35 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires, Jeep Performance Parts tires, and more. The kit will cost $7476. Upcountry+ will offer new front fenders, front skid plates, rear camera mount kit, and more, in addition to upgrades, 35s, and ignition from Upcountry equipment. You’ll pay $11,599 for that option.

The big news, however, is the AEV Level II kit. Offered exclusively on the 2024 Wrangler Rubicon, you’ll find the aforementioned front fenders with skid plates, an AEV rear spoiler with new tire carriers, 2.5-inch DualSport alloy wheels with Bilstein 5100, custom satin-black wheels, and those wants 37 inch tires.

The kit can be used on the standard Wrangler Rubicon ($20,049) and Rubicon 4xe ($22,099). The price increase on the Rubicon 4xe comes from replacing the 4.10 axle kit with the 4.56 wheel found in the Rubicon 392 and Xtreme 35-equipped Rubicons, which were previously the only two ways to get 35-inch rubber.

That vehicle’s equivalent of putting on a heel raises its off-road standards, to no one’s surprise. With Class II equipment installed, Wrangler Rubicons now boast 14.2 inches of ground clearance, 37.1 inches of water-throw capacity, a 50-degree rake angle, a 33-degree rake angle, and a 43-degree ride angle. Without this device, the best numbers available were 12.9 inches of clearance, 34 inches of water, 47.4 degrees of angle, 26.7 degrees of angle, and 40.4 degrees of pitch.

If the combination of AEVs, Wranglers, and 37-inch tires sounds familiar, you’re wrong. Last year, Jeep partnered with AEV to produce 300 Rubicon 392s, all made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Wrangler Rubicon, which came with 37 tires. The package was so popular that all 300 examples were sold in less than two hours. The decision was, as they say, in a 37-inch pool; customers had spoken, so Jeep began developing a package that was more than just for Wranglers.

All tires have numbers and letters stamped on their side that tell you a lot about them. Unfortunately, it’s not always apples to apples when comparing one tire to another, due to the way these measurements are written.

For example, most JL Wrangler Sport models, without the optional extras, have 245/75R17 tires from the factory. Let’s break those numbers down a bit.

The first 245 in the first section tells you the width of the tire, in millimeters, of the podium from the end of the front road to the end of the rear road – when installed on the correct track. This means that the tire measures up to 9.65 inches.

75 the following list does not measure the length in millimeters, because that would be too easy. It is actually a measurement, which means the percentage of the width of the podium that the road is at the top level.

R stands for “radial” for most tires these days. Most off-roaders don’t use bias tires except in certain situations, so it’s not necessary here.

17 – this third number is important. This is the height of the wheel the tires should be installed on, but it is measured in inches. Unfortunately, this causes problems for people all the time when ordering tires because it is very easy to get stuck in the first few sizes and order a 17″ by 18″ tire. This will not work.

The reason I emphasize its importance is that because you don’t have the third number remaining constant, you can’t accurately estimate tire size.

Often, you hear Jeep people refer to tire sizes in inches – “33s” or “35s” or “40s”. In this example, how do we know the tire size? Well, if you add the side length (7.26”) twice to the inch wheel measurement, you end up with 31.46”, or about 31.5”.

So, if you have a 245/75R18 tire then the diameter of that tire would be another centimeter, but it only applies to your setup if you replace your wheel setup with the 18 version.
