Also just curious, someone has no concerns about the reliability of the transfer case when going with wider tires (increased grip / forces / wear on the internal components)?
Since it came stock with 19 inch rims, I am in a situation where I am limited with the A / T tire models.
My stock 19’s are 235/45/19 or 27.4 inches in diameter. The new set with 17 wheels and 225/65/17 are 28.5 inches in diameter, so the difference is 1.14 inches more compared to the stock size.

What I’m trying to find out is whether A / T tires diameter the same as let’s say highway terrain tires with the same size. I am considering the aggressive footprint of the AT tires which can place extra size beyond the size specified by the seller.
Has anyone fitted this set of rims and tires to the 2nd gen compass? Mine is MY 2020 European model.
The tires must fit properly. Many people here run this size. One area of concern would be the edge offset. >45-ish and you may have trouble clearing the caliper.
Check the tire manufacturer for the exact description of the tire size. Sometimes they vary a little from the advertised 225/65. But not much.

In fact the stock rims are offset 40mm. I ordered 17 inch rims with 33 mm offset. I believe that I will get a little more space between the walls and the body of the car inside.
There is about 20 mm of space in the critical points between the front fender on the right whell and the same space between the tire and the rear shock absorber.
Important note here is that I mounted the tires on 7.5J rims with 33 offset. The original rims have 40 offset.
This 0.7 mm offset compensates for the clearance between the tire and the right shock absorber. I assume with 40 offset rims and 225/65/17 tires they will rub into the rear shock absorber.
I’ve Got A 2022 Compass Trailhawk. Wanting To Put A Lift Kit, Bigger Tires & Black Rims On It. Wondering If Anyone Else Has Done This To Their Compass Before & Wanting
Thanks for your advices. I am happy with the new tire set and I will test them in the mountain.
I have a 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk with stock 215/65r17 and want to increase the width (I hate the skinny look) of the tire. The Jeep site says the stock 17″ wheels are 6.5. What is the widest tire size I can safely run? I was thinking 225-235. Will that work?

So your wheel is technically .02″ closer to the shock tower, or roughly 0.5mm. It’s not enough to worry about unless you’re working with super tight clearances. There are plenty of people running 225/65-17 on stock wheels no problems [emoji106]

So I have a 2012 compass north edition, I just studded 235 65 17’s on (aftermarket wheels) everything fits and drives fine, there is a little bit of rubbing in the front wheel wells if I can get it as far as I can turn, but just barely and hard to touch it yourself. I’m not sure if my aftermarket wheels have an offset that helps compared to stock wheels. I’ll post a picture soon, but 225 65 17 is probably the ideal max size without a lift
