Suppose you plan to visit India more than once a year. Then this type of visa may be preferable to an e-tourist visa for India.

Simply put, obtaining a 10-year visa to India may take longer, but obtaining one takes the hassle out of future travel plans.
No, you cannot apply for a 10-year India visa as a US Green Card holder. However, if you are a citizen of Canada or Japan, you can apply for the 10-year visa for India.
Before you go to the nearest Indian consulate, you will need to collect your travel documents. These travel documents are essential for your application process. You will need the following documents for your application for an Indian visa for US citizens:
A valid US passport: Your passport must be valid for 6 months after your planned departure date and contain at least 2 blank visa pages.

The first and most important step during the Indian visa application process for US citizens is to collect all the required documents. As I mentioned earlier, these documents are essential for your application.

After you complete the first page of the application as described above, you will be redirected to a new page where you will find your application ID. You should make a note of this as you will not receive a verification email to confirm your entry.
Once you have completed the online application form and uploaded your digital photo that meets the required requirements, you will need to create a VFS Consular Service profile.

If you choose to make an appointment, you will be redirected to the VFS online booking page. Here you will need to provide your reference number and personal details for your online application form.
The reference number looks like this: USAAV00D1322. Your reference number can be found on the right side of your application form.

The last thing you need to do is collect your visa. You will be notified by VFS Global’s visa service when your visa application has been processed.
