How To Repair Leather Scratches – The following instruction applies to single-color, satin-matte, pigmented (surface color finish) smooth leather. But the damage to the leather fibers remains visible. In most cases, the color difference is the biggest problem. In such cases, the Leather Fresh treatment is sufficient. First, degrease the damaged area with Degreaer. Smooth the area with a leather sanding pad. For surfaces that require high coverage, apply Leather Fresh in several layers and dry each layer before the next with a hair dryer. For minor damage, Leather Fresh can also be applied with a thin brush.

Sometimes small triangular cracks and edges are turned up. These can be glued as well as possible with Leather Glue. Use a needle. Dip the tip of the needle into the glue and thinly cover the edges. Allow to dry by itself or with a hair dryer and press the fibers down. Remove excess leather glue with Cleaning Spirit.

If the leather fibers are pulled out completely with sharper edges, cut off the excess with a nail clipper.

Only for deep scratches where the leather may tear, Fluid Leather is recommended to fill and stabilize such damage. But the outline of the scratch remains visible. Fluid Leather is rarely needed, as the cat’s scratches are mainly surface damage and the material does not tear.

Cat scratches can usually only be repaired and in most cases the leather does not look like new after the repairs.
