Because there are so many complex factors involved, it’s impossible to claim that we understand the details of how divorce and divorce occur. Divorce becomes even more complicated when the couple becomes Christian leaders.
However, there are a few general considerations that can help all of us keep our marriages strong and even save Christian marriages from divorce.
The most important one? We must understand that the road to the most destructive sin (fornication, violence, etc.) that leads to divorce is built little by little.

Hope After Divorce: Why Divorce Is Not The End Of Your Story
Strong Christian husbands and wives do not commit major sins that destroy their families or even their careers because they decide to do so at some point. No, most often this type of sin is done gradually, in millimeter steps.

It is true that the devil has plans to destroy our marriages (John 10:10) and we should be aware of his plans, but James 1:14-15 explains that the temptation comes from our sinful desires.
“Temptations come from our lusts, which lure us away and draw us away. These desires give rise to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to abound, it brings forth death.” (James 1:14-15)
Crucial Ingredients For A Christ Centered Marriage
This post also shares the story of how one woman was caught in adultery (and it can happen to anyone).
Sins that the Bible justifies as grounds for divorce (especially adultery and abuse) do not develop overnight in the heart of a mature Christian. It starts innocently enough with a small choice.
That’s why the first step to preventing divorce in a Christian marriage is to admit that we are all capable of making bad choices. We must recognize the warning signs of a troubled marriage, especially the warning signs of an emotional relationship.
It is tragic to hear stories of Christian marriages ending in divorce. And it’s heartwarming to discover that we’re all one choice away from this destructive path.
