How To Get Scratches Out Of Alloy Rims – I guess I didn’t say Touchwood when I installed it, and I paid for it!! (I really don’t believe in such things) LOL
Anyway, yesterday I scraped my rim (both front and back, I must be a terrible driver!!!) while talking to my wife and not paying enough attention!!!
How To Get Scratches Out Of Alloy Rims
I immediately stopped and checked it out but the damage was done, I was mad, sad and totally pissed off at myself (I tried to blame my wife for talking to me but at the time that wasn’t a good exit strategy from my guilt). As sleepy as I am (I usually sleep in an afternoon) I went to the nearest hardware store and got two different sandpapers 400 and 1200 wet sanding paper and started working on it as soon as I got home.
First Signs Of Alloy Wheel Damage
The results were amazing, I felt great and now I drive very carefully! The finish is really good for now, but for a real polished look I’ll have to run to the car accessories store and get a metal polish (don’t remember the name but I had it a while ago).
If you find scuff marks on your rims, this is a great way to go, as just use sandpaper to remove the really rough parts from the chrome or polished alloys. If you have painted alloys you will need putty and paint, the process will be more complicated, I believe it is available online, just google it.
Note: The only step to follow is to make sure the area is clean and wet the sandpaper and just rub over the damaged part!
Very similar situation Less than 2 weeks into my new mix, hit the carb and ruined the front left wheel. Will give it a try – though my deep.
Cost To Fix Curb Rash [by Wheel Type]
I’m not sure if it will work on deep scratches! If its a painted combination I think you can sand it and use putty and sand again and paint over the affected areas.
Very nice tips Must try it You had the same experience The wheel scraped the carb while taking a turn and the effect was visible on the alloy wheels
Can you please tell me the name of the chrome polish? I have been looking for one for a long time
Will this be effective on the stock alloys of the OHC Vtec? I can see that the protective coating is peeling off my glue! There is no such deep gas
Alloy Wheel Repair — Sameday Auto Scratch And Dent Repair
In my case, my Alto K10 AGS is more of a show-piece with occasional errands than any regular driving. In its five years with me, it logged less than 6,000 km It is often kept in the closed parking lot When driven, it usually covers the 13 km stretch on the national highway between my home and office, where there are no pot holes or rocks that could scrape or chip the alloy wheels. These compounds are HRS purchased from a reputed dealer in Delhi
But over time, I’m seeing these alloy wheels showing ‘scratch-like’ marks and ‘circular swirls’ without actually being scratched (I don’t recall any occasions when I’ve driven the car that way). The chrome paint on the spokes has exposed the white base paint in these areas Even in the middle of the alloy wheels, there are ‘scratches’ like circular marks Considering that the center of the alloy wheel is slightly recessed, there is no possibility of anything ‘scratching’ this area. There are such marks on all the four wheels When there was no puncture any of these alloy wheels were removed and handled by the local puncture-walla. I also don’t think anyone would have intentionally scratched the alloys because it’s easier to scratch than stand-up and paint the body.

No, I am not a bad driver and hope this never happens again It was a mistake – my friend was sick and I had to hurry so he wouldn’t throw up in my car
The rim actually doesn’t look that bad The main danger would be from the driving position which could push the tread into the tire Even if it does happen, I doubt it will cause a blowout, although it may shorten the life of the tire
I can’t tell from your photo if there is any damage to the sidewall of the tire – I would pull the surrounding area of the tire and check for any deep gouges and punctures that might be a concern.
The next thing you should do is read the terms of your lease, and determine what your responsibilities are Sh*t happens, and it involves the leasing company’s calculations You’re not going to lose your license or go to jail for it I also doubt that would be grounds for them to terminate the lease
Rim Major Scratch, Thanks Wife! Any Possibilities To Repair?
You can try to repair it yourself, but unless you are very skilled with this sort of thing, it will be obvious when you return the car and they will inspect it. They will be more upset by the deception than the real harm
That being said, I doubt anyone would expect the entire wheel to be replaced, and in fact if you go out and buy a new wheel it could end up costing you more than what the lease company wants you to do.
Don’t waste your money on this repair, it’s cosmetic, but until your lease is almost up, you won’t have to worry about the damage. My advice is to put the real cash aside, call Mazda Lease Corp When it’s 3 months from the end of your lease, ask them to inspect the car for damage and never mention this story again. Chances are: they won’t notice this little thing P.S. Wash vomit from paint a.s.a.p. Or it will cause damage that the leasing company needs! EDIT *P.P.S A lot of new car buyers don’t get some sort of “wheel protection/guarantee/warranty” just say it was a curb that did it… (pothole!) and they’ll give you a new tire too!

Repairing Scratch On The Dark Chrome Wheels
As a detailer, I wanted the wheels to look as nice as possible so I tried to buff the imperfections. Luckily I had a bottle of Mackey’s 37 Complete Swirl Remover. I tried using this product with a microfiber towel I used a microfiber towel as an applicator (instead of a foam pad) because I wanted it to be as aggressive as possible.
The product was very easy to use It seemed to have a long working time even though I wasn’t using a machine Removing the residue was also easy The product color is white and the consistency is on the thicker side like normal compounds It didn’t have much of a smell and I was thankful for that There are some compounds that smell like gas or heavy chemicals The product didn’t smudge either but again, I’m not using it with a polisher
I know this isn’t your typical show and shine because I don’t work on car paint but I wanted to share the results because I was blown away! I didn’t say that I was able to remove 95% of imperfections A few were left but they were there because the scratches were too deep or the paint was chipped And I achieved it with so little effort
