So, I finally got my visa online for my upcoming trip to see what the process was like! This is my opinion:
Fast: I usually wait in line for 15-30 minutes, but usually less than that, and the counter is also a currency exchange counter, so I can exchange currency at the same time
Convenience: I don’t need to spend time filling out paperwork online before traveling, waiting for my visa to arrive, and then remembering to bring it with me. I can buy it at the airport, and the stall is open 24 hours a day
As you can see, buying a visa on arrival at the airport is very convenient and the price is the same (you won’t save any money by buying a visa online), which makes me recommend buying a visa on arrival to travelers to Egypt.
Egypt Visa On Arrival For Indians
Not only is this a bank counter and currency exchange center, it’s also where you buy your Egypt entry visa! You can accomplish two tasks at the same time – buy a visa and exchange money into Egyptian pounds.
NOTE: Not every nationality can purchase a visa on arrival. Please check with your embassy to ensure that your country will allow you to obtain a visa on arrival in Egypt.
When your flight lands at Cairo International Airport, you will be taken to the arrivals area of the airport, your Covid-19 documents will be checked, and then you will come to an area with bank tellers who also sell entry visas. This will look different depending on which terminal you enter, but I always enter at Terminal 2 (usually Air France, KLM or Alitalia) and there are always 3 banks to exchange money and selling visas. The first bank counter, Bank Misr, is always the busiest, so I choose to walk past that counter and head to the counter at Banque du Caire or the National Bank of Egypt, where the queues are usually short or non-existent.

Travel To Egypt With An Egypt E Visa
Go to the bank teller, tell them you want to buy a visa, and give the teller $25 in cash (they also accept Euros or British Pounds). This is the only inconvenient thing about buying a visa at the airport – they don’t accept credit cards, and sometimes you need change, so I always recommend paying in change, which is $25.
The bank teller will then give you a sticker that you can take to passport control. Do not put the sticker in your passport as passport control will do this for you by stamping the date of your arrival in Egypt on the visa.
One convenient thing about buying a visa at the airport is that the bank teller who sells you the visa can also exchange foreign currency for you, so you can do two things in the same place: buy a visa and buy Egyptian pounds.
If you don’t have a visa, there will be signs telling you where to buy one.
How To Buy A Tourist Visa To Enter Egypt: Online, Or At The Airport Upon Arrival — Egypt Adventures Travel
Once you get your visa, don’t put it in your passport! Give your passport and visa (and all your belongings) to the passport control officer, who will put it inside your passport and stamp it.
While I don’t recommend getting your visa online in advance, given the pros and cons I shared above, here’s how travelers can purchase their visa in advance if they choose:

***There are many scam websites that will allow you to get a valid Egypt visa but will add significant fees so you will pay much more than $25. The website I linked above is the only legal website (operated by the Egyptian government) that does not charge extra fees.

One of the things that made the e-visa process so long was the need to upload my passport photo,
I had to use a special website to shrink my passport photo so it could be uploaded to the website.
I completed the process in January 2022 and was scheduled to travel to Egypt in February 2022. The whole process took me about 40 minutes…much slower than if I had simply purchased a visa upon arrival at Cairo Airport!
