Most of us are familiar with those markers and colored pencils that are designed to hide stains on wooden furniture, I used a marker with a make-up similar to the formula used in leather paint that only allows you to paint over scratches I wondered if he would. Leather dye is usually alcohol-based, so any alcohol marker with a wide range of brown tones would be the best candidate for a leather dye marker replacement. First, and the hardest part was matching the colors. This method works very well, but is entirely dependent on getting an exact or near-exact color match. Unlike repair classes that require surface preparation, protectants, and sealants, this simple repair only requires a marker and a little time. I think you can clearly see from the photos that it creates an impressive result – with every evidence in my house, the fix will last for years.

Fair warning: This fix works GREAT, but not fast. This requires hand-painting every scratch, so if you’re working with a well-worn piece or a large sofa, this will be a longer project. I haven’t finished my course yet, but instead of a craft project while watching TV, I do a little work at a time. I’ll be sure to post the final result when it’s done!
