To keep your Corian countertops looking smooth, clean and disinfect them regularly. To remove everyday dirt, use a damp sponge and a little washing-up liquid to wipe down the worktops. Once the counters are clean, dry them with a soft cloth. For more stubborn stains, use an ammonia-based spray cleaner, then rinse the area with a clean, damp cloth. It is a good idea to disinfect the counters once or twice a week with a diluted mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Moisten a cloth with the solution and rub it in small circular motions. Allow the disinfectant to air dry, then dry the countertops with a soft cloth. In addition to cleaning the countertops, it’s a good idea to protect them with oven mitts or oven mitts under hot pots or pans. How To Choose A Sink For Solid Surface Countertops
Before using any cleaning products or making any repairs to your solid surface worktop, consider the gloss of the surface and the color of the solid surface. The gloss of the solid surface is achieved with finer and finer grains of abrasive abrasives. After using fine abrasives for a glossy shine, polishing with a polishing pad and polishing compound is the final step in the process. We mention it to assure you that what is discussed below is consistent with how the finish was originally applied to the countertops.
Examples of brilliance can be seen in the images of the article. Image 1 was taken with a flat/matte surface where none of the objects on the worktop are reflected. In our discussion, we will examine two categories of surfaces: (1) flat/matte and (2) satin/semi-gloss/high gloss. Lighter colors with a flat or matte surface are the easiest to care for and repair. Darker colors with a flat or matte surface are also relatively easy to maintain. However, darker colors from medium to high gloss are more challenging. Both will be discussed below.
For the daily care of a Corian® worktop, regardless of its type or color, it is best to wipe it down with soapy, warm water. Non-abrasive, ammonia-based cleaners or standard household table cleaners also work well. Avoid using window cleaners as they tend to leave a waxy residue that dulls the surface and tends to show up better on darker colors.
Why Corian Countertops Are So Popular
Be sure to wipe up water or any other spills as soon as possible. Allowing any liquid to sit on the countertop until it dries will create deposits due to minerals or other materials left over from the water. Microfiber cloths are ideal for wiping up spills.
In the case of flat/matte surfaces, surface care can be a calm proposition. A solid surface does not absorb liquid, and as a result, stains that have been left to dry are just a little more work to remove than a fresh stain. Fresh stains can be easily wiped off with a dry cloth or paper towel, and most dried stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth or paper towel. If not, see the next section.
With daily use and periodic cleaning, the countertop may appear stained or stained. This results from minerals in the liquid or other materials left on the surface after the liquid has evaporated. To remove deposits, apply a mild abrasive liquid cleaner, i.e. Soft Scrub®, to the stains. Take a damp cloth or sponge with a non-abrasive surface and rub the area in a circular motion until the stains disappear. Rinse the area with clean water and dry completely. You may need to repeat this process if extra hard water marks appear or apply CLR® or Lime-A-Way and leave for a few minutes. Rinse again with water and do not forget to dry the surface completely. Traditional multi-surface or household kitchen sprays can be used to remove the most common household stains caused by coffee, tea, red wine, lemon juice, vinegar, ketchup and the like.
If you somehow wrote on your solid surface with a permanent marker, or perhaps dropped nail polish on it, it would be considered a permanent stain on most surfaces.
