How To Be Confident In Yourself – Has your confidence been waning lately? Feeling like a failure? Is it possible to turn pessimism into something positive? Here are 10 ways to increase your confidence.
Why are you pessimistic? I bet it has to do with the fear you have. The fear that you won’t “fit in”. The fear that you won’t measure up or that you’ve failed. Fear that no one will hear or see you. That’s right. I get it. I have those fears, too. Have you ever heard the phrase “fake it ’til you make it?” Yes. That’s what you should do. I know you can’t hear it now but go step by step. You’ll probably fake it until you make it.
How To Be Confident In Yourself
Get out of bed, take a shower, get dressed. Wear an outfit that makes you feel like you look good. Dress like you’re going to a strong lunch. Pretend you’ve landed your dream job and are having lunch with your first client at the best restaurant in town, even though you’re actually having lunch. when you are alone at home. It’s amazing how much better you feel when you’re not in your PJs.
How To Build Self Confidence In Yourself And Your Children
I like this one from Leo Babauta-Photoshop your own image. We all have a mental image of ourselves. When we believe in ourselves, our self-esteem shows that. But when we lose confidence, what we do to our behavior. So, you have to photoshop it. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Hmmm. Is that as easy as you can get? I do not think so. Do it again. This time, be your own fairy god. Turn that pumpkin into a golden cart that can take you where you want to go. Now it doesn’t matter how you feel inside. Fake it until you make it. In other words, hold your photoshop image to look at several times a day.
I know you don’t like it, but go public. I don’t care where—the coffee shop, the grocery store, the library. Even a movie theater will work if you do two things. You are looking for someone to compliment, hold the door open for someone, or help them in some other way. And when you give that help or compliment you will smile, really smile. Do this at least once a day, preferably several times a day. You will feel better, I promise.
Dust on one shelf. Clean up your computer. Finish one load of laundry. Wash the car. Pick one small step and do it. Remove it from your list. Doing something, even a small thing, makes your day feel successful, which makes you more confident. And when you cross it off your list, don’t you feel great?
It doesn’t have to be rocket science. Watch a video, read a book or blog post, or go to the library and read a biography of someone you’ve heard of but don’t know much about. Always looking for an idea? Click the “I feel lucky” button on Google search. Studying can help you increase your self-confidence.
Tips For Building Confidence At Work
Do something you love. Something you do only for yourself. Take a bubble bath, play music, paint, run. Give yourself 15 minutes, as long as you can. Ah, I hear you say you can’t again. It’s fake. Do it for 5 minutes if you can’t wait to do it longer. You deserve at least 5 minutes of self-care a day.
Oh, now I’m a loud protest. I know. I hate exercise, too. Also, you’ll hack it for 15 minutes, as long as you can. Straight dancing, walking, running, cycling, heck go bowling, around the museum. It doesn’t matter how you exercise. The important thing is that you move. Circulation will get your blood pumping, your lungs working, and when your body gets what it needs, you feel better.
Get enough sleep, but not too much. This one can be difficult. Some people suffer from severe insomnia while feeling confident. Some people can’t get up. Science shows that seven to nine hours a day is what your body and brain need. Too little sleep means you can’t concentrate or have mood swings or lack the energy to do things. You can’t get enough sleep—talk to your doctor about good sleep habits and sleep aids.
Sleeping too much? Force yourself to get up and walk. Challenge yourself to do each of these ten steps. Sleeping too much makes you confused and can’t think of what to do. Ask a friend to help you get up and walk. Schedule a daily phone call or a daily trip to the coffee shop or library.
How To Build Self Confidence
The right time to sleep is important. Don’t worry if one night a week increases sleep or lack of sleep. But your brain will thank you if you get enough sleep most nights.
Forgive the other person for their imperfections and/or mistakes. We all do cussin’ and discussin’ other people’s mistakes or indifference or thoughtlessness that has gotten in our way. Take a deep breath. Forgive them. Let go. It may take practice (ie, pretending) before you feel like you’ve truly forgiven them, but keep going until you do.
Be kind to yourself. When you hear your negative self-talk, things like: “I can’t”, “I’m like (fill in a negative trait), “or “No one would want me to be…” Be kind. Wait a minute, why am I being so mean? I don’t deserve that. Forgive yourself for being imperfect and/or making mistakes. Then remind yourself of the good things you did today (I showered, got dressed, complimented the grocery store clerk, etc.)
