How To Buff Out A Car Scratch
Pour water over the surface of the scratch and rinse the car well. If you are using a hose, make sure the speed is not too high.
Use car wash soap or liquid detergent to wash the scratch and scrub it with a microfiber cloth or soft sponge. Do not use any type of powder detergent because it may cause more scratches when cleaning with it.
This solution works well for superficial scratches that have just been scraped off the clear coat of paint. Dirt often builds up on these superficial scratches, making them look worse than they are. Therefore, regular, gentle washing with liquid detergent and a microfiber cloth should be sufficient temporarily.
Depending on the size of the scratch, add toothpaste to a microfiber cloth and rub the scratches in circular motions. Make sure the toothpaste is a smooth paste (no small granules) to avoid further scratches during the cleaning process.
