Car Accidents New Jersey Today – 2 Dead, 2 Seriously Injured in Horrific NJ Chain Reaction Crash It was a chain reaction crash – and both dead and one seriously injured victim were in the last car hit.
Authorities say two passengers were killed and two drivers were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash in New Jersey’s Freehold Township over the July 4 holiday weekend.

Police responded to a call from Kolar on the south side of Route 9 and the west side of Highway 33 around 1:30 p.m. Significant vehicle damage occurred on Sunday. One victim, a 52-year-old Marlboro woman who had been driving a Honda CR-V, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger in the Honda, a 61-year-old Marlboro man, later died of his injuries at a hospital, while the driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Marlboro man, was hospitalized in critical condition. It was not clear if all three were from the same family.
According to Monmouth County prosecutors, it appears the Honda was rear-ended by a Subaru that had been sideswiped by a Lexus and another Lexus driven by a 74-year-old woman from Lower Lapland. The woman from Manalapan who may have triggered the chain reaction accident was said to be seriously injured.
No charges have been filed at this point, and it is unclear if charges are expected. The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County SCART and the Freehold Township Police Department.
