Apply For China Tourist Visa – There is now good news for travelers looking to return to mainland China, as embassies, consulates and visa offices around the world have begun accepting tourist visa applications again.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic in March 2020, China has stopped issuing tourist visas. Tourist visas previously issued were temporarily deemed invalid/invalid and have now been revoked.

Passengers going to China for official business, study abroad, and family visits/reunions can already apply for visas. Nonetheless, the resumption of issuance of tourist visas is a new development that just started yesterday, March 15, 2023.
What Are The Photo Requirements For The Chinese Visa Application? Faq
In order to facilitate foreigners coming to China, starting from 12:00 noon on March 15, 2023, the Chinese visa and foreign entry policies for foreigners will be adjusted as follows: 1. Chinese visas issued before March will take effect on February 28, 2020 and Those still valid will be reactivated. 2. Relevant visa authorities abroad will resume processing and issuing all types of Chinese visas. For more details, please view the China Visa Requirements Announcement. 3. Port visa agencies have resumed processing and issuing various port visas. 4. I think the statement that previously issued visas “remain valid and will be reactivated” relates to visas that are actually still valid based on the date printed on the label (long term visas).
In order to facilitate the exchange of personnel between China and foreign countries, the following new adjustments are made to the “China Visa Entry” policy, which will take effect from 0:00 on March 15, 2023: 1. Foreigners holding valid visas can enter China before March 28, 2020. 2. You can apply for all types of Chinese visas. three. Port visas are no longer suspended. Four. Restore the following “visa-free” policies: “Hainan” “visa-free” entry policy for 59 countries, “15-day visa-free” tourist “cruise” group “Shanghai” port, “Visa” – foreigner groups from Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions Free entry to “Guangdong Province” and “visa-free” entry for tourist groups from ASEAN countries to Guilin City, Guangxi Autonomous Region.
As part of the reciprocity measure, Americans and Canadians can apply for 10-year visas from the Chinese embassy, as Chinese citizens can also obtain 10-year visas from the United States and Canada. Single/double entry tourist visas from other countries may only be valid for 3-6 months. Some countries can apply for multiple entry, but despite this being highlighted on the consular fee list, who gets approval has been vague.
All You Need To Know For Chinese Visa Application
Here is an article I wrote a few years ago about applying for a Chinese visa in Bangkok:
In terms of documentation, China is very strict about bringing a lot of documents around the world when you apply for a visa.
The only places that were more lenient used to be Hong Kong and Macau, where a simple one page application letter and photo would have been enough (I’m assuming due to the land border), but all other places I’ve applied to required flight confirmation and hotel bookings as well as detailed travel times surface.
When you apply for a Chinese visa in Bangkok, please follow the instructions strictly, otherwise the application will not be accepted. This includes copies of previous Chinese visas, passports, entry stamps, Thai visas and residence permits/work permits/student visas/university certificates/household books (if you own property), and sometimes bank statements and health insurance policies. Their demands were crazy. Last time my application was 14 pages, the only thing they didn’t ask for that time was a bank statement. I brought it because I was rejected two years ago for not bringing it.

Additionally, their policy seems to be constantly changing whether visitors are allowed to apply. The last time I went, they asked everyone who came in if they were tourists, and then some people left again, which leads me to assume they were rejected immediately. This may change and you should always check as I have applied to Bangkok as a tourist before, as have some of my friends. It’s been a while, though.

Again, in order to gain entry (and especially to exit successfully again), you need to follow the instructions exactly. This mainly concerns regulations regarding connecting/continuing flights to a third country within a specified period.
After what I have experienced over the past few years, I am no longer keen on traveling to China again. While I have a lot of friends there who have also suffered at the hands of the crazy Chinese government throughout the pandemic, this whole situation makes me question whether I ever want to go back. Definitely no longer suitable for leisure travel. Maybe I’ll just go to one of my friend’s weddings because it’s a special occasion. I can imagine many others feeling the same way.
I think I’ve visited mainland China over 30 times since 2008, so I’m very familiar with the visa process, which has always been cumbersome and expensive. I might try to get my next visa in Hong Kong from a Chinese travel agency if I need one.
Maybe neighboring countries in Asia and those countries that are friendly to the Chinese Communist regime will return to the mainland for tourism without reservation. Thailand is definitely one of them. People have to decide for themselves how comfortable they feel about visiting there again.
