American Express Platinum Benefits Enrollment – Since December is a great month to open Platinum cards and many readers may be taking advantage of the Business Platinum Card and Business Check Bundle or one of the great Consumer Platinum Card offers, I wanted to post a quick reminder that some Platinum cards benefits require registration. For example, yesterday I was about to use my new Business Platinum card at T-Mobile expecting to activate the monthly credit benefit on that card for wireless services. Fortunately, before I sent the payment to T-Mobile, I got distracted by something else and logged into my Amex account and looked at the card benefits, where I realized I needed to do that first.
I had completely forgotten that these credits are not automatic. That’s certainly not the only Platinum card benefit that requires sign-up.

Platinum Card, I also want to use the card’s Dell statement credit benefit before the end of this month (as a reminder, this card offers a $200 statement credit twice a year, one of January to June and another from July to December). I wanted to make sure to use it now, before December 31st, knowing that I can get this benefit again twice next year (and maybe again the following January) before my next annual fee is due. Don’t forget that the benefit also requires registration.
The American Express Platinum Card Updates Are Perfect For Summer Travel
Both Business Platinum and Consumer Platinum come with benefits like elite status that require enrollment, and you don’t want to forget to enroll.
What I know I should have done is check out this excellent resource article: How to Maximize Value with Your Amex Platinum Card. Specifically, the checklist section of this post is the clutch. I know Greg updated and republished this post last month. But if you missed this post because you didn’t anticipate that the points parade would leave another pack of points in your lap, here’s your reminder to make a list and check it twice, because

We’ve recently received a few reports from readers making qualifying digital entertainment purchases on their Amex Platinum cards. to activate the digital entertainment credit only to discover that they hadn’t signed up for the benefit prior to purchase (not signing up will prevent you from getting the credit), so we wanted to quickly highlight the fact that you must sign up for that like how to sign up for the benefit.
In Greg’s case, he’s 96% sure that 2 out of 3 Platinum cards in his household were enrolled in the benefit, but when he realized he hadn’t gotten the credit, he went to the benefits page of the his account and found what he said he was
Registered on any of these cards. I don’t know if the 4% chance that he forgot about it showed that a non-zero probability means anything can happen or if there was some sort of error in his initial enrollment, but either way it’s a good reminder to check yourself to make sure you’re signed up (and to keep screenshots of when you do this sort of thing in case you need to follow up with Amex about a credit you’re owed).
American Express Platinum Card Review: Luxury Travel Perks
To see if you’re enrolled, log into your Platinum Card account and click on ‘benefits’. If you’re signed up, you’ll see a tracker at the top of the page that shows how much of your Digital Entertainment Credits and Airline Fees you’ve used so far this year.
In this case, when it says “Registration required” it means that you have not yet registered and must do so before making your purchase.
Click “Get Started” then scroll down and check the box to accept the terms and conditions and press “sign up now”.
Make a qualifying purchase, so you may be out of luck for July if you’ve already made your charges. Someone at Frequent Miler Insiders asked what would happen if you check in after you make the purchase but before the purchase is posted to your statement and I’m not sure. Hopefully it still works, although my gut is that you’ll probably need to sign up before you charge. We’ll see, but make sure you’re registered even if you thought you were already.

American Express Platinum Card (u.s.) Revamped, Annual Fee Going Up To $695 Today
As if I didn’t raise enough eyebrows when I reassured people that The Platinum Card® from American Express was worth the annual fee.
American Express announced last month that the annual fee was increasing from $550 to $695 (fees and fees).
Of course, if you read my previous review of the Platinum card, you know that I received a few thousand dollars in value the first year I had it (which, by default, would still justify a fee of just $145 more ). ).
But we Americans don’t like it when our rates are raised (and understandably so), so I wanted to revisit the topic and review the
Higher Annual Fee, New Benefits Added To Amex Business Platinum
This value assessment was a little easier than you might think, just because I already thought $550 was a bargain for all the stuff you get.
If you don’t travel often (or intend to travel often), it will be harder (okay, maybe impossible) to justify it. But if you travel several times a year, I think it’s a no-brainer. A reminder from the previous review
If you haven’t read my original AmEx Platinum review, check it out here – you’ll see that the original value to me comes from a few benefits with the required sign-up…
In my original review, I explained how the Fine Hotels & Resorts collection is basically a steal in itself.
American Express Green Vs. Gold Vs. Platinum
When you book these properties on the AmEx portal (5 star properties), you get a whole host of benefits when you arrive:
The value of new additions: Keep in mind that you’ll need to sign up for some of them, too
(Anything with “Registration Required” just means you need to remember to log into your account and click a button for each to sign up.)
So there you have it. I think the hotel reimbursement alone justifies the increase (if you had spent $200 on hotels over the course of a year anyway, which is probably pretty easy for most).
The U.s. American Express Business Platinum Card® Is Now More Powerful Than Ever With Enhanced Business And Travel Benefits
But assuming you intend to use streaming services, sign up for CLEAR, or get an Equinox membership, you’re worth an extra $719 each year.
AmEx often has really good deals going on – they’re not part of the annual benefits, but they’re often valuable. For example, I got $100 off Best Buy when I bought a $330 iPad for Thomas.
Just a random offer added to the bottom of My Account that I “added” to the card before paying. There are usually many of them. Last year, for example, there was a $100 rebate at Dell and I used it to buy a monitor. I know, sexy.
