Hi all, I’ve been reading some of the posts in this thread for the past couple of days. Trying to figure out what will work on a 2016 jeep patriot without mods or lifts. I was told a 16×7 0 offset wheel wrapped in a 225-75-16 tire would work. but everywhere I go to ask for something, they tell me it won’t work. any suggestions?
That tire should be roughly 29 inches tall, which is already pushing it for the patriot. without a lift or mod i think the tire height with offset would cause the top of the tire to hit the strut that holds the spring at the bottom, so hitting the bump at any speed could cause some issues. next time the steering is fully locked i would assume it would start rubbing the front and back of your subframe, a spacer would fix that problem but then push it into the tire weld cutting tire life. I recommend that if you don’t want to invest money right away to fit your new tires, at least the pinch weld mod requires a little effort first and about $15 in a cutting disc and rust prevention paint from your local auto/hardware. shop, next if your budget allows for some quality bolts for the wheelbase if you run comfortably, good luck!!
