2001 F150 Front Suspension Diagram – It is a very complicated problem to find parts for front suspensions because you have to have a Ford I.D. No to the axis, so you can find a 7-page table that starts like the one below.

Then once you have the parts list number you can move on to parts lists like the one below. In our example, you go to parts list # 30.3 and then down to column B, 30.3B. But there are 6 pages per range, like the A-M range shown below, and it only applies to the Dana 44 axle. So sending data takes too much time. However, if you have your axle number, as in the example E0TA-EF, I can look it up for you.

The following are the main parts list entries for Bullnose truck front springs. I’ve split the information into two tabs because on March 13, 1981, things changed significantly in the list of lists. Prior to this date, Ford added the truck’s gross weight and spring capacity to the list for really long entries because multiple GVWs shared the same spring.

But after that date they put the spring code that is on the catalog certification sticker along with the spring part number. This makes for a much shorter set of entries, but it may leave you wondering what the capacity of a given spring is. No problem, most springs used after March 13, 1981 were also used before that date, so if you go to the “previous” tab of your part number, you should be able to find the rating. But even better, I slowly type the spring capacities into the chart on the Cross Reference Chart tab.

I had quite a struggle figuring out which parts went where on Dad’s 1981 F150 4WD front suspension with dual shocks and sway bar. But I finally figured it out and thought I’d record what I found here.

First, this front suspension uses four washers/retainers on most of these trucks, but since dad has a front sway bar, there are only three. (The fourth is washer 389117, which goes under stud 388764 if you don’t have a sway bar bracket that replaces the washer. The parts list says it’s “1

11/32″ I.D. x 2 1/2″ O.D. x 1/4″ thick, but that ID is suspect because I would assume it would be 3/4″ to fit that pin
