
1997 Ford F150 Front Suspension Diagram – It is a very complicated issue to find the part #’s for the front suspensions because you must have a Ford I.D. Non-axle to find the parts list number for your specific axle from a 7-page table starting as shown below.
Then, once you have the parts list number, you can open the parts lists that look like the one below. In our example you go to Parts List # 30.3 and then down to Column B, for 30.3B. But there are 6 pages in each row, like the A to M row shown below, and that’s just for the Dana 44 axle. So posting that information would take too much time. However, if you have a number for your axle, like E0TA-EF in the example, I can look it up for you.

The following are the Master Parts Catalog entries for front springs on Bullnose trucks. I have split the information into two tabs because on March 13th, 1981, the catalog listings changed significantly. Prior to that date, Ford entered the truck’s GVW and spring capacity in the catalog for a very long set of entries because many of the GVWs shared the same spring.

But after that date they put a spring code on the certification label in the catalog along with the part number for the spring. That makes a shorter set of entries, but you can guess what the capacity of a particular spring is. Don’t worry, most springs used after March 13, 1981 were also used before that date, so if you take your part number to the “previous” tab you will see the rating. But, even better, I slowly type the spring capacities into the chart in the Cross Reference Chart tab.
I had a little trouble figuring out what parts went into the front suspension on Dad’s 1981 F150 4WD with dual shocks and sway bars. But I finally figured it out and thought I’d record here what I found.
First, there are four washers/retainers used on this front suspension on most of these trucks, but since Dad’s has a front sway bar, it only has three. (The fourth is washer 389117 which is under stud 388764 if you don’t have the sway bar bracket, which replaces the washer. The master part catalog says it is “1
11/32″ I.D. x 2 1/2″ O.D. x 1/4″ thick, but suspect that ID as I would expect it to be 3/4″ to fit that stud
